WHY CAN’T I FIND MY @#$!!@^% EARRINGS??!!

My dressing table is still not finished. I’ve hunted high and low for the perfect mirror and the perfect lamps, with no luck. Daddy-O brought me a stool that I love; it’s supposed to go with Tigger’s desk, which is not even set up. The legs are red, which looks great with our bedding, and pretty cute next to my trash box.  See?stool

The biggest aggravation with my new dressing table was the fact that my jewelry box was spilling over with earrings….lots of dangly, favorite earrings. I also have a lot of little earrings that I love to wear, and it’s a constant battle to find them with 15 other pairs of earrings piled on top of them.  I get so frustrated when I’m looking for some of my smaller ones, and I wind up having to empty the entire jewelry box to find what I’m looking for.  Cuss words get spoken.  I needed a solution.

I set up at a craft show a few years ago, and there was a girl selling handmade jewelry. I loved her display; it was all made from rustic barn wood and screen. She crafted frames from the wood, then attached sheets of screen to the back and hung her jewelry through the holes in the screen. I decided to copy her idea and make a place to get all of those dangly earrings out of the way.

I went on a little scavenger hunt to find the ingredients for my project. Look what I found hiding in the bushes!photo 3 (10)

Oh, look! Under another bush, believe it or not!photo 1 (11)

Yes, that was totally staged and cheesy. I have so much junk that I’ve saved over the years, just in case!  In this case, the wooden frame who was missing his glass and his backing came in handy. I didn’t paint it or sand it or anything…I don’t care if everything matches everywhere. I like variety.

Coach helped me out with the staple gun because my hand was still hurting (it’s much better now, by the way). He also cut the excess screen off around the edges, and nailed a little hanger-thingy onto the back. Well….actually….he hung it on the wall, too. I guess this was Coach’s project!

He places the screen, ever so perfectly, on the frame.

Such precision. Such grace.

It looks so cute on my wall, displaying all of my dangly earrings, including the owls Pooh bought for me last weekend while shopping with her Girl Scout troop.photo 5 (1)

Total favorites. These were a gift from an artist friend who has another artist friend who made these. If you know what they were made from, comment! :)

This was a quick and easy weekend project (that I would have done myself if I hadn’t been ailing, you know), and it was a perfect solution to my cussing problem….er…earring problem!  I took one more shot of it as I was turning in for the night…

All nestled in like it's been there forever, hanging above my Franny (Grandmother).
