We DO Halloween at the Salon! (Not For The Squeamish Or Faint Of Heart)

We DO Halloween at the Salon! (Not For The Squeamish Or Faint Of Heart)

Yes, we DO Halloween at the salon, baby! And what I mean by that is, we live it up, have a blast, dress up as much as we can (and still be able to do hair). Halloween is a holiday that is loved by pretty much everyone at the salon, and we can’t wait every year to show off our stuff!

Halloween Face Paint Ideas for Adults

As I mentioned on Monday, I love Halloween.  This is the time of year when I come close to going over my data plan (country living=limited data) because of looking at endless Halloween makeup ideas online.  Worse than that, I want to try to recreate as many of these looks as I can, and my kids can only stand the applying, removing, and re-applying of makeup so many times before their patience wears out.   So, guess who has to be my guinea pig?  Me!

I had so much fun playing with all of these different faces last year, and sharing the pictures on social media also boosted my makeup business for the month of October. I got the pleasure of booking a few clients who had fun Halloween plans and wanted a cute face for the occasion. That’s what I call a fun day at work, and why Halloween at the salon is so much fun! These Halloween makeup looks were similar, but I do what they want, ya know? I have tons of Halloween face paint ideas for adults up my sleeve!

As usual, I’m acting rediculous!

Halloween at the salon

Halloween at the salon last year was one of the best I’ve had there.  Our manicurist, Lotus, has about 4,675 talents, one of which is sewing and designing awesome clothing and costumes.  She worked her blossoms off last year fashioning costumes for everyone at the salon, and we had a blast! Lotus fashions the absolute BEST handmade costumes anywhere!!

Tragedy Ann, up close. Makeup by Martie.

I had a lot of fun with my Tragedy Ann costume. It was super-simple, and pretty comfy! I found that amazing flannel quilt skirt at a local thrift shop, and I’ll probably recycle this costume in a few years. This is one of the easiest makeup ideas for Halloween, too…just a white face, a few scars, and some heart-shaped lips!

We have some clients who make it a point to come by for Halloween at the salon, whether they have an appointment or not, just to see our costumes. We also have a few clients who avoid the salon on Halloween…not everyone gets into the spirit, and some folks are genuinely afraid of costumed-up hairstylists. Can you imagine? heehee…

trick-or-treat!

Of course, we usually all cut out a little early so we can take the kiddos trick-or-treating. I wanted to include one last photo from last year.  This definitely was the coolest costume I saw on trick-or-treat night, so it earned a spot in this post.  Creativity at its best!

Gross, but so awesome!

Gross, but so awesome!

What do we have in store this year for Halloween at the salon?  I can tell you this…ideas are brewing.  I guess you will have to wait and see, but it’s less than a month away now! I think Lotus is taking a break this year from creating the best handmade costumes ever, but I know she’s going to look amazing. I’m working on a little handmade project of my own, so don’t miss it!

You can expect a Weekend Sneak-In, because I have a little more to share on the subject of the Halloween Season, including an idea for a yummy Halloween treat! See you then!
