Waves On Wednesday: Angled Bob With Highlights

It is so frustrating that I can’t remember to do things that I really need to do, like take pictures of my work in the salon.  I would love to share more of what I do with you on a weekly basis, but I always forget to take pictures!  Vroom-Vroom, our nail tech, tries her best to remind me.  Every day when I walk into the salon, I see this. Today, I’m going to keep it simple.  I’m sharing some pictures that I did remember to take a few weeks ago.  This is one of my long-time clients who has tried lots of different cuts and colors over the years.  I forgot to take a before picture, but that’s no surprise.FullSizeRender (34)

I love her hair…the texture, the swing it has.  This cut gives her hair awesome movement, and the blonde highlights were definitely what this cute andgled bob haircut needed.

My client has kept highlights for years, sometimes with lowlights added in.  Last time she visited, we did an all-over color, using a demi-permanent formula, to darken her up a couple of levels.  She was looking for a change, and to give it some shine.  That did the trick, until her hubs advised her that he likes her BLONDE!  Adding some blonde highlights back into the mix this time around gave her hair some multi-tonal depth, and pleased her main squeeze.

I love it when clients come in every visit with a different picture!  This client is definitely one who loves to try new things, and always brings me realistic photos of looks she likes.  It’s fun to adapt these ideas to her needs, and send her out every time with a fresh new look! I loved doing this angled bob haircut so much!

What is your game-plan when you go to the salon?  Do you change it up, or stick to your tried-and-true?  Don’t be afraid to ask your stylist for suggestions or ideas on something different!  If you’ve been rocking the same ‘do for a long time, your stylist would probably jump at the chance to shake it up a little!  Nothing kills me more than having a long-time client call and say, “I finally decided to do something different, so I went to Aunt Netti-Lou’s hairdresser…”  No, I don’t really mind so much that they went somewhere else, but the whole thing implies that my skill set is limited to one hairstyle!  Also, I don’t advise going to a stranger for a new look if you have a stylist who knows your hair inside and out, and knows what it will do.  Many times these calls end in, “…and now I can’t do a thing with it!  Can you fix it?”

Hairstylists, what’s your take on pictures?  Do you love to see your clients come in with their phone’s photo log open?  Do you prefer to work by description?  I would venture to say that lots of stylists like the visuals, but I’d love for you to weigh in!

If there’s a look you want to see, comment with your favorites!  If I do something similar, I’ll try to remember to take pictures and share them in a future post.  I vow to do better!
