Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of My Life

If I believe everything I hear, then today my life begins, I become fabulous, and I’ll stop caring what people think of me.  Why?   Because today, I am 40 years old.

If you want the truth, my life began on February 3, 1974.  I’ve been working on being fabulous since that time, but I may not ever get there.  In fact, I know I won’t until life on this earth is done and my Jesus makes me whole again.  Also, I stopped caring what people think of me about seven years ago, except for the ones who care about me and want what is best for me.  The typical sayings just don’t apply to me, but here are some that do.

We don’t understand life any better at forty than at twenty, but we know it and admit it.  -Jules Renard

Time flies like an arrow.  Fruit flies like a banana.  -Groucho Marx

Middle age is having a choice between two temptations and choosing the one that’ll get you home earlier.  -Dan Bennett

Coach was forty last month, and he didn’t seem any different, so I’m counting on the same.  We had a date night over the weekend, and we both fell asleep on the couch at 10 pm.   This is not the first time that has happened, so I can’t blame it on our age.  Dang it, we were tired!

Needless to say, since it’s my birthday and all, I’m taking the day off.  No cutesy crafts, no tutorials, just a little hello from your now 40-year-old friend, Martie.  And I will leave you with this:  If you need a last-minute gift idea for me, I have a couple of suggestions.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If this just isn’t your type of gift, here’s another suggestion:

Take me here.

Take me here.

If all of this seems a little too much, we’ll just stick to this:

Cheers!

Happy Martie’s Birthday to you all!  🙂
