Prayers From the Front Porch | Jimmie’s Been Published!

Prayers From the Front Porch

Jimmie’s been published! That’s my sister, and I couldn’t be more excited! I also can’t think of a better writer than my sister, Jimmie. I know you remember her, because I’ve talked about her here and here, among other posts.  Her first published work is available now on Amazon, and it’s a weekly devotional called Prayers From the Front Porch. I, however, am reading it daily, because I cannot possibly wait 52 weeks to read her first book!

*I Just want to say that there are no affiliate links in this post!  In other words, I’m not making any money off the sale of this book. I’m recommending it because it’s really, really good and because I support my peeps!

Jimmie’s Been Published!

Jimmie has always been a bookworm. As a kid I spent my time climbing trees, traipsing through the woods, and binge-listening to records, then later yapping on the phone, making mix tapes, and sneaking cigarettes. Jimmie spent her time being read to, then reading, then later reading some more. She plowed through more books than I could even count before she graduated high school and went on to college, and then her writing skills began to really emerge. She honed her skills for years in notes to friends, office-wide emails, and her now-famous Christmas letters. Then she began blogging, and her heart and soul emerged through her words beautifully (and occasionally still do over on jimmiesworld.org. I’ve also done a #reblog and she has done a #guestpost for me!). We’ve all just been waiting for her to do something amazing with this talent-slash-skill. Our wait is over!

Jimmie’s former neighbor, Jamie, whom I haven’t met yet, was drawn in by Jimmie’s Christmas letter (which is printed for your curious eyes in the Foreword of the book). She suggested the two of them do a writing project, and that sweet little idea has now morphed into a self-published devotional! Each week there is a Bible verse, followed by an essay written by Jamie and an essay written by Jimmie for each verse. I’m on week 4 (day 4 for me), and I’m so hooked. I can’t wait to get up each morning and read the new material, and the verses they chose have been amazing so far for me.

Of course, it’s all the more special for me since my very own sister is one of the authors, and I’m so incredibly proud of her! I can’t really say this is a review because I haven’t finished the book yet, but I can assure you that it will entertain you, intrigue you, make you laugh, possibly make you shed a tear or two, and will definitely help you have a closer walk with the Lord.

You may not be into books, or Christian books specifically, but I appreciate you taking a moment to let me brag on my sweet sister. Don’t worry, I’ll be going back to my usual beauty and foodie posts now. 🙂

Shameless plug

I’m including some handy links below for two reasons. 1) I would be thrilled if you bought the book! 2) There is a daily devotional as well, and it’s a little hard to tell the difference between the weekly essays and the daily devotional. If you click one of the links provided below or above, you’ll get the right version. You want the weekly essays (even if you read them daily)!

If you’re interested, you can download the Kindle version of Prayers From the Front Porch here, or order a hardcopy here. Jimmie and Jamie would sure appreciate the support, and so would I! It’s not every day your sister becomes a published author, now is it?
