Honeysuckle Air
I wish I could share smells with you guys. I just can’t explain the fragrance of honeysuckle, a weed that hangs out in fence rows all day. The smell is everywhere, all over the place, and it’s just heavenly.
It’s a weed! I think what most people consider weeds are some of my favorite things in nature. Madre finds it amusing that I have such an affection for weeds of all kinds, but she loves honeysuckle as much as I do. There’s nothing like the taste of the sweet syrup in those tiny flowers, either!
When I open my front door to leave in the mornings, completely bogged down with my purse, a few more bags, my drink, my lunch, and some keys, I still have to stop and just breathe in the scent. It’s the cleanest, most beautiful floral smell in the world, and I’m surrounded by it.
Since I can’t share smells, I’m sharing the gorgeous blooms and sprawling vines of this Southern favorite.
I hope everyone who reads this gets to smell honeysuckle, at least once in your lifetime.
What’s your favorite smell in springtime?

Nothing smells better than honeysuckle, not even that tropical close second, plumeria/frangipani. Whenever I get disgusted with southeastern states’ intransigence, remembering the smell of honeysuckle calms me down. XO

At the age of 23…still haven’t smelled honeysuckle. Definitely in the list nowbof “100 things to do before I die” lol

Oh man…I would mail you some if I thought it would arrive in a sniff-able state! 🙂
