Honeysuckle Air

Honeysuckle. On a country road.

Honeysuckle. On a country road.

I wish I could share smells with you guys.  I just can’t explain the fragrance of honeysuckle, a weed that hangs out in fence rows all day. The smell is everywhere, all over the place, and it’s just heavenly.

It’s a weed! I think what most people consider weeds are some of my favorite things in nature. Madre finds it amusing that I have such an affection for weeds of all kinds, but she loves honeysuckle as much as I do.  There’s nothing like the taste of the sweet syrup in those tiny flowers, either!

When I open my front door to leave in the mornings, completely bogged down with my purse, a few more bags, my drink, my lunch, and some keys, I still have to stop and just breathe in the scent.  It’s the cleanest, most beautiful floral smell in the world, and I’m surrounded by it.

Beautiful honeysuckle.

Since I can’t share smells, I’m sharing the gorgeous blooms and sprawling vines of this Southern favorite.

I hope everyone who reads this gets to smell honeysuckle, at least once in your lifetime.
