Halloween Costumes with Wow Factor
I hope you’re here because you’re looking for Halloween Costumes with Wow factor! That’s what I tend to specialize in, even though all of my Halloween looks are usually thrown together at the last minute. I’m not the kind of person who concerns myself with creating things like cuteness, sex appeal, or exotic beauty…oh, no. Not me. I like that wow factor!
2019 was no exception. For weeks I talked about and planned my Janis Joplin costume. I collected some necessary fashion items, messed around with my hair, and even pulled out my old, annoying pink feather boa.
In spite of all that, this is how I showed up for Halloween at the salon.

Yep, I showed up dressed as Post Malone. I’m a 46-year-old mother of two, a teacher/preacher’s wife, and an Avon lady… and I created a Post Malone costume for myself with no reservations. This definitely had Wow factor….get it? Snort! (you’ll have to know Posty music to get it. I can’t help myself, the kid’s got beats.)

If you’re wondering how I pulled this off, so am I. I made a TSC run for the shirt, and then I grabbed my trusty SuperExtend Precise Liquid Pen and started creating my face tattoos. Yes, it was very hard. Thanks for asking! I had to write backwards in the mirror! But my amazing eyeliner pen really helped, because it truly is very precise. It also stays on like it’s a for-real tattoo, which is awesome whether it’s used as a tattoo or an actual eyeliner, right?
I used the amazing Ultra Luxury Eyeliner in brown to draw on my beard and enhance my eyebrow bushes. Believe it or not, the facial hair stayed on all day, just like the tattoos did!
Halloween Costumes at the Salon
But don’t just gawk at my ridiculous get-up. Take a peek at the whole gang! You know we love Halloween costumes at the salon! We had a lumberjack, a fifties chick, good ol’ Post Malone, Madonna, a baseball player and Phoebe from Friends!

I have missed Halloween at the salon so much. Obviously, because I didn’t even blog about Halloween, or any of my costumes, for the three years that I wasn’t working there! I’m way behind. Here it is springtime, and I’m just now blogging about Halloween…I know, it’s crazy! But I have so much catching up to do. And, Halloween just wasn’t the same without my girls. We had the best time in 2019!
Halloweens ’16, ’17 and ’18
I didn’t put a lot of time or effort into any of my costumes over the last three years (except 2019…that Post Malone costume took some doin’). But I did dress up every year, because I can’t let the holiday pass without coming up with Halloween costumes with wow factor. It’s just what I do.

This was my 2016 look…the Fairy Godmother. The cape was actually leftover from Jimmie’s 2015 costume, and of course, the makeup was Avon. I actually made Pooh cry when I stopped by the band room for a visit after practice in this costume. Literal tears. You know, high school kids love visits from Mom in costume. I’m such a great Mom!

In 2017, Halloween was on a Tuesday. I decided to go as Wednesday. I used my Magix Prime Face Primer and then set it with eyeshadow instead of powder. I used my eyeshadow single in Champagne to get a shimmery, pasty look. How’d I do? Sometimes you just have to THING OUTSIDE THE BOX….AHHHHH!!

In 2018, I really started cracking up. There’s that Precise Liquid Pen again, making an appearance. I did a similar method for getting myself nice and pale, then drew on the fun cracks and holes in my china-doll face. This was a fun look, and definitely turned a few heads!
Thanks for humoring me,
And allowing me to write a Halloween post in April. I appreciate it, guys! Not that you had much of a choice, but I think you all secretly love Halloween as much as I do.
Because I want to help you kill some more time while you stay SAFER AT HOME, I’m going to remind you of a few other Halloween posts you can re-visit. Taking it all the way back to the beginning in 2012, reminisce with me over We DO Halloween at the Salon!, my first ever Halloween post on this here blog. Then travel with me to 2013 and check out my DIY Owl Costume. I had a ball with this costume, but it was not easy, nor quick to make. I still have it though, and I will most likely recycle this costume someday.
I’ll even embarrass myself and remind you of Halloween Fifteen|Worst Costume Ever. This was most definitely a last-minute costume! I can sure throw one together, and sometimes it has less-than-great results. But, what do expect from someone who once dressed as algae? (Yes, I did.)
If you still need more, or you want to play around with some Halloween makeup looks, check this post out: Halloween Face Paint Ideas for Adults. What better time than the present to practice for your Halloween costume? I mean, what else do we have to do?
Thanks for hanging out with me for a bit. I’ve really missed this! I hope I get fired up and just start posting all the time like I used to…I really am so behind.
