I realized something recently. The chunk of time between my return to the salon and now is unaccounted for here on the blog, so I thought I’d fill you in with a little life update. You might want to grab a drink and some tissues…..nah, scratch that! Let’s do a hair and makeup gallery update instead!
I promised a life update ‘soon’ in my last post, back in March. My life has updated so many times since then that I haven’t had time to write a thing. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that no one wants to read a “Christmas Letter”-type life update (unless it’s Jimmie’s Christmas letter, those are awesome). I figured you’d much rather see what’s been happening in my salon chair, amirite? Here’s what I’ve been up to!

We had the slowest December in history at the salon, but it has been a study build since the first of the year. I’m staying pretty busy these days, and loving it!
I’m completely shocked when I really let it sink in that it’s almost July. Like, we’re already over the hump, speeding towards Christmas. What the heck?? I haven’t even had my vacation yet, so I don’t need to get ahead of myself.
Meanwhile, Pooh finished her first year of college and Tigger finished up 10th grade. They’re both absolute hair models. 😉 Coach has blown my mind with all he has done in the last year, but that’s a story for another day…a good story! But we’re all working this summer and pretty much seeing one another in passing most days. Sigh.

But not Madre, I see her a lot! She is now one of my weekly standing appointments! She comes in every Wednesday for her #weeklyfluff and then we go to lunch. It’s just awesome when your Mom is one of your besties, especially when she lives right out your back door!
This is actually Madre pictured. She’s been rocking this short, curly bob for a while now, but we do all kinds of different styles for her weekly fluff. Be sure to check them all out on Instagram!

I’m excited that folks are starting to have weddings again! I’ve had one bride so far, and a bridesmaid. I forgot to take pics of the bride, but you can see the bridesmaid below. The blonde! The thickness! That braid! I always love formal hairstyles.
Makeup Looks
I haven’t had much opportunity to do makeup for clients in the last year and half; we’ve only been mask-free in the salon for about a month now. You know me, though…I’m always into my makeup, and I can’t do a hair and makeup gallery update without showing some makeup looks! Here are a few looks I’ve done since I last posted. This first one is one of my favorite palettes in my makeup drawer! It’s called Mood Brown, and I paired it with a coral lipstick.
Warm colors are my fave. I’m a warm skin tone, and as you can see on the right pic, I have two different bottles of Ink Lasting foundation. I mix the two to get my perfect summer shade! I tan pretty easily, so I have started adding a couple drops of the darker shade to my foundation brush.
My favorite cool colors (left) are in the Berry Love quad, but I don’t know how much longer this one will last. It’s ok because there are new quads available now on my website, and I am absolutely crazy about them! I’ll be doing a Facebook LIVE soon to show some of the colors. the new #fmg makeup line has the makeup artist in me swooning!
The look on the right is a more natural Avon makeup look, because that’s my specialty. I’m all for makeup looks that are quick, easy, and real. I’m not going to go through forty different steps to re-create my face every day…I just don’t have time for all that. I love makeup, but I’m in the “enhance your beauty” camp, not the “scrape off your face and start over” camp, know what I mean?
I’ve had some fun with my own hair, too, but I’ll save that for another post!
So, yeah, a hair and makeup gallery update is way better than a life update any day (ok, so I snuck in a little bit of life update stuff). I’m adding all of these pictures to my actual Hair & Makeup Gallery, too, of course, so be sure to check that out!
