Craft Room Makeover: After

Well, I did it!  I got my room all pretty!  Surprisingly, it didn’t take all day, not that it would’ve mattered. Because of all the ice, I spent a considerable amount of time at home last week looking for something to do.  I’m home again today, which is normal for a Monday, but Coach and the girls are here with me, which is not normal for a Monday.  We got another thin layer of ice last night!  Will it ever end?

But the point is, I got my room all pretty!  See?IMG_6007

I know you’ll probably have to refer back to the before pictures to be able to tell much difference, but believe me, there is a difference!  Remember this?

It’s always helpful for me to have a neat, tidy space to work in.  It never stays that way for long, but I don’t mind a working mess so much as a “everybody uses my desk for a dump” mess.  It drives me nuts! All the dumping was just making matters worse, considering I have never really gotten anything the way I wanted it yet after moving in.  I’ve been cleaning house!

So, I started by calling Madre and asking if I could move her massive, ancient Calamondin Orange tree (it’s not really ancient, but was a mature tree when her mother acquired it in 1968) to another room.  This was one of the many items that Madre couldn’t fit into her new home, but couldn’t part with.  She agreed, so Coach moved it for me.  Then I was able to move my easel over closer to the Hoosier cabinet where all my painting stuff is! FullSizeRender (27) I also gave the cabinet itself a good clean-out, and now have my art books where I want them,FullSizeRender (28) my paint handy, and everything else stored away into the cabinets,

glue guns, paints, markers, polymer clay, unfinished projects...

which now actually close!

Over here, I have my closet organizer hung again,IMG_6008 so there’s a place for projects I’m in the middle of.

Also, check out my little waste can? FullSizeRender (32) This is so handy for stuffing in bits of thread or fabric that I’ve cut off of a project!  I do have a trash can in here, but when I’m in the middle of a project, I don’t want to waste time rolling over there and lifting the lid.  This one is just a large green bean can that I washed and covered in scrapbook paper.  I highly recommend! Just some sewing room tips for ya…

I even cleaned out and organized my sewing basket! IMG_6009 Because of all this hard work on Monday, I was able to do this on Wednesday!IMG_6131  I actually created eight new listings for AHairInMyBiscuit, and I have several more things waiting in the wings.

So, to recap, and give you a good visual, I’ll share the before and after shots together.

Next week, I’ll share with you what I did on Tuesday…you were wondering what happened to Tuesday, weren’t you?  Normally I would be at the salon on Tuesday, but thisIMG_6061 kept me home.

I’ll give you a hint:

That’s right, folks.  Being iced in for days gave me time to see just how horribly awful we unpacked when we moved in.  I can’t wait to show you this, but wait I will! You’ll get a more astounding makeover next Monday! 🙂
